Welcome to my blog, A Rare Treasure for the Lord. I am excited (and a little scared) to share my thoughts with you.
Let me share a little about myself so you can understand why I am on this blogging adventure.
First of all, and most importantly, I love the Lord. He has been so good to me. Along the way, you will read posts of how good He has been to me. He has forgiven me, taken care of me and loved me. I could go on and on. LOL. I guess that is the point of a blog.
I work full-time at my church in Ohio as the senior pastor’s secretary and have been doing this for over seventeen years. (Where does the time go?) Working at the church has given me many different opportunities to serve the Lord I love. I have helped minister to the teens by going to camp for fifteen summers, helping in our youth conference each year, going on teen activities, and just encouraging the teens to serve the Lord. I was able to be a chaperone on a teen missions’ trip to Kenya, Africa. I teach a class at our Christian school. Besides all that, I help the pastor and the staff as we try to be a light to Cleveland. Can you tell I love my job? I do. I am blessed to work at a place that encourages me to serve.
At 51, I am not married (and never have been) and don’t have children (although if I have taught a child or mentored a child, I consider him my child. So I have lots of “kids.”). If you would have asked me growing up if I would be single with no children at 51, I would have said, definitely not! However, God had different plans. That plan may change in the future. Only God knows. In the meantime, He is using me to minister as a single. I have had opportunities that I never would have had if I was married. God is using me!
I love children. My mom says that I am a “child-whisperer.” God has given me a gift to connect with kids of all different ages. As I said, I work with teens. I also lead and teach the Kindergarten Sunday school class at my church, and have been serving there for almost 20 years. I help lead our children’s choir, as well. Sometimes you will find me chatting with children rather than adults. LOL. As I said, I love kids. God is using me in many different ways to be a blessing to our children.
My reason for this blog is to encourage. I want you to know the God I serve. To find out how much He loves you. To discover the joy of living a life that pleases Him. I desire to help you, my dear reader, to see that you are a rare treasure in His sight.
