Hello friend. My name is Christine, and I am a rare treasure. One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions of treasure is “something that is very special, important or valuable.” Now I know what you must be thinking, “Boy, is she conceited!” Well, if I thought that I was a treasure because of anything I did, then I would definitely agree with you. You see, I am not a rare treasure because of myself. I am a rare treasure because of Who values me. My value comes because of Who I belong to and serve–my Savior, Jesus. He thought I was valuable enough to die for! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Now as His child, I find myself a rare treasure. What an amazing thought!
I am rare because I am unique. No one has faced my trials and disappointments, or even had my joys and triumphs. My Christian journey is all my own. God has worked in my life in a unique way. I am a rare treasure and need to remember that. Why? Because if I remind myself that I am a treasure, it helps me live a life that is pleasing and worthy of my Savior.
However, there are times when I don’t feel like a treasure. I sometimes struggle with insecurity and doubts. A lot of times the struggle and doubt come when I am not as close to the Lord as I should be. Or when I listen to Satan telling me the lies that I am nothing. He likes to remind me of my past failures, of the times I failed God, and of the times I sinned against God. That is why it is so very important to stay close to the Lord. When I am close to the Lord, Satan’s voice grows softer. God’s voice is the One I hear.
As a Christian, it is extremely important that I read God’s Word. I need to see what the Bible says because it is God’s own words. He gave those words to me to show me what He thinks and does. To show me how much He loves me, for the times I don’t feel loved. That He cares for me, for the times I feel alone. To see that He has a plan for me, for the times I don’t understand what is going on. What a special gift the Bible is! What an amazing God I serve! And He thinks I am valuable. Wow!
What is it that I want you to learn from my blog—that you can be a rare treasure too, when you are a child of the Lord. [If you would like to know how to become a child of God, I would love to share that with you.] I want to share how God has worked in my life and what He has taught me. For those who are a child of God, I want to encourage you to realize that you can live for the Lord in a world that wants to tear you down. You are capable of living a life as a rare treasure and not as an illusion of a treasure. That, dear reader, is the goal of my blog. To help others see that, in Christ, they can be a rare treasure.
